When the Living Room Becomes a Set

Sometimes a camera crew stands in the hallway in the morning where the children build pillow forts at night. Our apartment is home and location at once, and that is a particular kind of life. I tell how it feels when your own room suddenly plays a part.

Everyday life and the camera

A set needs exactly what a good home has, real light, real things, no pretence. That is why our room works. And because it is truly lived in, you can see it, the children's shoes by the door, the coffee mark on the wood, that makes images honest.

What the children love about it

For the little ones a shoot day is an adventure. Cables, lamps, friendly strangers. Afterwards the room is theirs again, and they play among the furniture that was just in the frame. They learn early that beautiful things are there to be lived with, not just looked at.

A room that can do both
