My Favourite Market, and What Comes After

I didn't find my favourite flea market in a guidebook but by staying. Saturday morning in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, just across from Avignon, on the quieter side of the river. With children it is no trouble, quite the opposite, here there is everything a morning like this needs.

Browsing with children

Children at a flea market get bored faster than you think, unless you turn them into treasure hunters. A small budget, a task, find something blue, and they are in. I browse in peace, they collect, and in the end everyone has their find.

The park next door

The best comes after. Right beside the market there is a park to relax in. The children run, I sit in the shade, and there is a cat that acts as if the place were hers. For one morning she may well believe it.

And then the pizza

There is a pizza maker from Corsica who makes truly good pizza. After the hunting and the running it tastes twice as good. A morning like this is my recipe for a good day, a little hunt, a little rest, and something warm in your hand at the end.
