White Horses, Wide Space, and a Hundred Mosquito Bites

The Camargue with children is a joy, if you don't forget one thing, the mosquito protection. We forgot it once, and we came home with close to a hundred bites. Apart from that it was a wonderful day, white horses to stroke, ponies to ride, and a vastness where children can simply run.

Horses to touch

For children the white horses of the Camargue are the greatest thing. Big, calm, patient, and many ranches let children come right up or climb onto a pony. To feel an animal, its breath, its coat, stays longer than any sight.

Riding and running

If you like, take a little ride, at a walk through the flat land, water on the left, reeds on the right. And where there is no riding, there is running. The Camargue is one big open space, no edges, no crowds, only sky and ground.

And the mosquitoes, honestly

Now the warning no one gave us. The mosquitoes of the Camargue are merciless, especially at dusk and near water. Never go without protection, cream the children well, long sleeves help. Those who prepare bring home only good memories, and not a hundred bites like us.
